The grove of trees commemorates those from the district who served in World War Two. The trees in the grove represent the four main theatres of conflict. The trees were planted as part of "Australia Remembers" which commemorated the 50th anniversary of the end of World War Two.

"Australia Remembers, 1945-1995" was a program of activities organised by the Federal Government to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of World War Two.
