Dear Monument Australia visitors, we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, dedicated to recording monuments throughout Australia. Over time the costs of maintaining this website have risen substantially (in fact they are probably larger than those of many companies who exist for profit). In the past we have borne all the costs associated with maintaining the website but we are now having difficulties in paying the monthly expenses.
If Monument Australia is useful to you, please make a donation to keep this historical and educational resource available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Sorell Memorial HallPrint Page

The hall commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.
The war memorial to be established at Sorell will be a hall and community centre. This was decided at a meeting on Friday. The Warden (Col Blacklow), who presided, said the council had appointed a committee consisting of a member of the council from each of the four wards and representatives from the RSL, Servicemen's Parents and Wives' Association, CWA, and Child Welfare Association, and they had suggested a hall and community centre. Mr E. Round, architect, of Hobart, outlined the design of the hall and community centre, estimated to cost £13,500.
